Spiritual or Psychological
Some time ago, while doing my problem-based learning assignment at school, our group of nursing students selected the topic of spirituality in nursing (henkisyys hoitotyössä) to be our research question. This question is a bit tricky to translate into English, because if we would be very strict, the word henkisyys (derived form henkinen ) can mean something psychological, mental and spiritual all at the same time. One translation could be mentality in nursing, but to me it sounds a bit weird. Would this be about being a mentalist in nursing? An even better translation would be psychological and spiritual support in nursing . In the Finnish language hengellinen and henkinen both have their roots in henki which means a spirit, or life, or breath ( henkäys ). This seems to be the same for the Latin spiritus. If we would be very strict, like I was in my assignment, and only accept the YSA (“Common Glossary”, which is provided by the Finnish Thesaurus and Ontology Serv
